Briefly about Innsbruck Airport Austria

Innsbruck Kranebitten Airport is the largest airport in Tyrol in Western Austria. It handles regional flights around the Alps, as well as seasonal flights to other destinations. During the winter, activity increases significantly, due to the high number of skiers traveling to the region. It is the main base of Tyrolean Jet Services, Welcome Air and of Austrian Airlines’ regional carrier Austrian Arrows. The airport is approximately 2.5 miles from the center of Innsbruck and is connected to the city and to the Hauptbahnhof - main train station by city bus. In 2007, the airport handled 859,832 passengers. In 2008, that number increased to 969,474 passengers, a 12.8% increase over the previous year. Innsbruck Airport is well known for having a difficult approach due to surrounding terrain, prohibiting certain aircraft types from operating at the airport. The airport has 350 outdoor parking spaces and 750 parking spaces in the multi-story parking house opposite the terminal building. Parking is free for the first 30 minutes. If you require a car to continue your journey, car Rental Company has office at the Innsbruck Airport and there is wide range of vehicles on offer. Car rental office is located in the main hall and on the ground floor of the multi-story car park. Bread, pastries and cakes can be bought from a bakery, while a café offers all kinds of coffees and snacks. There is also an excellent restaurant serving a wide variety of dishes. The airport shop has an extensive range of newspapers, magazines and books, as well as tobacco and cigarettes, souvenirs, films and travel accessories, alcohol, toiletries and cosmetics. Duty-free alcohol and tobacco is available to those traveling outside of the EU. Innsbruck Airport has several arrangements in place to make traveling easier for disabled passengers, including designated parking areas, a special elevator and toilets for disabled people.
